Weekend Quiz - Oldest Computer Generated Music

Which two songs are thought to be the oldest known recordings of computer generated music?

And for a bonus point - when were they recorded?

And for yet another bonus point - what computer was used?

In celebration of the 60th anniversary of “Baby,” a forerunner to all modern computers, the University of Manchester has unveiled the first computer-generated music recordings ever: a scratchy version of “Baa Baa Black Sheep” and a truncated version of “In the Mood.” The recordings were captured in the Autumn of 1951 at the University of Manchester and were played on a Ferrari Mark 1 computer, a commercial model of the “Baby” machine. The program that generated the music was written by the late Christopher Strachey, a math master at Harrow and friend to legendary computer pioneer, Alan Turing.

I apologize, but I am a Google kind of guy. I am still waiting for someone to come up with a chip I can have implanted so I can access the net without a computer, and store video seen with my own eyes. How cool could that be.

Remember on Star Trek where they talked to each other on those little flip open communicators? Well we are doing that today. I believe the popularity of the flip phone stems from that.

    Doug-Iowa:
    I apologize

It was my fault - I posted it and then I searched on the question and realised too late that the answer came up immediately - I thought about changing the words of the question but then remembered that the RSS feeds would already carry the original words. So......next week , I'm going to have to work harder to find a problem that is not so easily searched. Hmmmmm.........

Not sure about wanting an implanted chip Huh? But that is a cool idea - who knows- we might see this in the next few years, when you consider how fast things seem to happen.

I prefer the way they did it in Thunderbirds, they talked into their watches.
