Hi, Kevin - Welcome to the site!

One of our regular contributors raved about Qik in this thread:

Re: Live Streaming with Windows Mobile

I just saw a note at IntoMobile.com about an additional option for streaming live video from some WM 6 devices: Next2Friends, which is available for the Moto Q and BlackJack II. Here's a quote from the press-release about WM 6 compatibility:

"Next2Friends Live allows people to share real life moments from anywhere, be it through live broadcasted news developments, capturing major life events, or bringing happenings across the world closer to home. The application, soft-launched in late 2007 and officially released in June 2008, is continually being enhanced by the Next2Friends development team to deliver the optimal service for all the people already sharing their lives through real-time, rich media. Some of the new features that have recently been incorporated are one click streaming, the ability to zoom, pause or re-start live streams and automatic quality selection that guarantees the best streaming experience independent of location, carrier or connection speeds."

You can check out the full pres-release here, or visit Next2Friends.com.

Wow, Kevin - I'm stumped. It looks like Qik for your phone is in Alpha development, but other than that, I am not familiar with other solutions for Pro devices. Can anyone else help here?

Re: Live Streaming with Windows Mobile

Kevin, I was able to find another product that might be worth investigating: It's called Live Media GPS, and it appears to work with any WM 6 device. This is from a company called Inca X, and it's designed to broadcast both live video and GPS information in real time. Sounds pretty interesting!

I was having the same issue... I emailed support and they gave me a link to the cab file for the Sprint Mogul (which is the same phone) and it worked like a charm.  I'm using the HTC PPC6800 (Titan) on the Alltel network.

    Here's the link...

    bit.ly/HTCdevice

Re: Live Streaming with Windows Mobile

It appears that more and more solutions for streaming video from WM phones are slowly coming onto the market. I just saw a notice at msmobile.com that Mobile Seesmic is now available in an alpha version. Their description:

Seesmic is a video upload service, where users can post short videos. It is a combination of other web 2.0 services and can be thought as kind of video-Twitter, combined with YouTube, combined with video-based commenting system (one can post comments to some sites through Seesmic).

    There's a direct-to-phone download available here: http://m.mseesmic.net/  http://d.seesmob.com/mseesmic.exe

Re: Live Streaming with Windows Mobile

Some strange things going on...  I tried logging into Qik, and their server is reporting a problem....and the problem seems to stem back to August (!?).  Then I tried logging into Seemic...and the server simply did...nada.  I was able to download the Seemic.exe file on my Windows XP Pro system, tried opening it in order to install it...and Windows refused to open it.  Are the software gods telling us that streaming video from WM devices is to be left only to the gods...or am I hitting a stream  of bad luck? (Yeah...I know...bad pun.)

Welcome shantipur - I know a few of our members are using Qik so hopefully it is just a temporary outage.

Re: Live Streaming with Windows Mobile

    Hi, Shantipur -

I checked the Seesmic link again this morning, and it appears to have changed. Try the link below - it should work as an OTA download to your phone, and the exe does run successfully on my WM 6.1 Pro device. You're right that it won't run on the PC - it appears to be simply the app itself, not a PC installer.

    http://d.seesmob.com/mseesmic.exe

It appears that you have to create a Seesmic account via your PC before using the WM phone app. More info on the service is here: Seesmic Blog.
