Mobility Center for WM6.1? Is this even needed?

Paul Thurott talks about the Mobility Center under Vista on the Supersite for Windows (link here.  Is it just me, or should the new "sliding" homescreen have the ability to get more detail for these things on WM smartphones, or am I just a control freak?

Kris, I'm not sure what you're asking. Can you say more?

I played with various Vista components back when it was still in beta, and in my recollection, the Mobility Center is really just a place to collect various controls for stuff you might attach to notebook PCs - hence the built-in projector and external monitor controls. I don't think it has any connection to WM 6.1. For that, Vista has the Windows Mobile Device Center, which does everything that ActiveSync does and then some.

This is actually a screen that's turned on by default on laptop installs, which shows things like a better battery indicator, more data on WiFi connection strength, and other things that a mobile device user might want to keep track of.

I would like to see these kinds of things put into a sliding panel on 6.1, just because I would like to have that kind of data.
