I noticed in the last week that my Tilt was failing on sending text messages. I use my Tilt for email and text messages and then use a Razr for phone calls. I called AT&T to troubleshoot and discovered that it was also failing to make phone calls. I swapped the SIM card into my Motorola Q and all was well. I've been wanting a new device so I went out to Best Buy prepared to spend money on a cool new device. The best they had there was a Samsung BlackJack - no touch screen devices. So then I went to my local AT&T store - again just a Samsung BlackJack with WM 6.0 and a vague reference to having to find the download for WM6.1 by myself.

I've complained about this before - but I just don't understand why it's so hard to go out to a store and buy a decent Windows Mobile device - plenty of BlackBerries and iPhones !

Don't understand that one.  The ATT stores here, Dallas area, at least have Tilt and Pantec Duo, but other than that, there's not much else just yet.  There are a number of cool phones on the way as you already know, but I don't think any of them are available from any carriers yet.  Your Tilt dying now seems to be very bad timing.  Sorry.

 I think I'd rather be where you are though; I got my Tilt in April, just a couple of months before the Diamond and Touch Pro were announced.  I now have to wait a year to be able to get one of these jewels.

Yes - they might have had a Tilt - I wasn't looking to replace it with the same -  though it's a good device, but I really want a better screen. It just seems such a shame to me that the exciting new devices aren't in stores.

Don't suppose you'd consider taking my working Tilt and contract in exchange for your broken Tilt and upgrade position

AT&T were good about offering me an upgrade even though I wasn't due for one just now.

Hey, Laura - are you able to wait a few weeks to see whether the HTC Touch Pro is going to hit AT&T soon as the Fuze? All reports are saying it will happen in the fall, and many are even describing the Touch Pro/Fuze as the "replacement for the aging Tilt." Here's another one of those reports from CNET.

That's a good thought - Thanks Bill - I was just in the mood for spending money on a new device yesterday - you know what it's like - I defintely prefer a touch screen - so much easier for text messaging, but I do still like a Windows Mobile Standard Smartphone - I have switched my sim card into my Motorola Q and I'm using that which is fine for a while.

AT&T likes to make sure the firmware is good under most situations, that's why the dates get pushed back.  The 6.1 update for the BJII and the Q9h are worth the effort....soooo much nicer and better memory management.

I have an unlocked Dash - with my AT&T sim card, the phone works, but the data doesn't.

Hi Reidan - so great to see you post in this forum. I think I might just get the first WM 6.1 device that becomes available in the AT&T store. I still haven't completely got my head around what I want - touch screen or not - large or small and so on...
