Re: HTC Mogul Upgraded to WM 6.1 "breaks" ActiveSync
Sorry my suggested work around didn't help! :(
I had actually downgraded my TyTN II back to WM 6.0 to avoid this problem. Doesn't help on my Touch Diamond or Treo 800w though since downgrading isn't possible, but after tons of trial and error I finally have my Diamond syncing with both Exchange and my personal Outlook PST file fairly reliably. I had gone through another phase were certain appointments would not sync from the device to the PST, so I had to delete those. It wasn't so much fun.
I've been expecting hoping for a new version of ActiveSync to come along to fix this problem since obviously something has changed with the way Windows Mobile 6.1 synchronizes.

Re: HTC Mogul Upgraded to WM 6.1 "breaks" ActiveSync
Kathleen,
This looks like some type of desktop error. What happens when you connect your device Kathleen? Are you seeing the following, or something different? The device is seen by the desktop, the sync starts, and sometime you get the error 86000107?

Re: HTC Mogul Upgraded to WM 6.1 "breaks" ActiveSync
Thanks for the link Laura. So the issue, in Kathleen's case, is this:
-
Device HTC Mogul - upgraded to WM 6.1
-
Kathleen sync's to home computer & work Exchange Server via work computer.
-
Once PC w/ Outlook XP and the other with Outlook 2003
-
after upgrade to 6.1 uninstalled AS, reinstalled, created new partnerships.
-
received error 86000107 on both PCs when attempting to sync.
-
fixed on 1 (home PC) by running ScanPST, and Kathleen is now able to sync
-
Unable to sync on work PC still with the same error - 86000107.
-
ScanPST worked on the desktop at home, I wonder if this problem is caused by a corrupt outlook profile on the work PC.

Re: HTC Mogul Upgraded to WM 6.1 "breaks" ActiveSync
Hi Grok:
Your description is pretty accurate, except for one thing - the workaround only works if I sync with one and only one PC. As soon as I add a second PC to the mix, it stops working on both PCs.
I also don't think the problem is caused by a corrupt Outlook profile on the my work PC - that is the one PC that I am syncing with now and I am syncing successfully every time I connect.

Also, if you downgrade your device back to Windows Mobile 6.0, the problems will instantly go away. At least they did for me. So that does not indicate any type of corruption on the desktop PST or Exchange server data.
Do you still have the previous ROM's install files? Have you been able to isolate where the conflict is coming from (Contacts, Calendar, or Tasks)?

The initial upgrade to WM 6.1 did not go well - as a result I had to do it again and I think in the process I lost the original Rom. I think, though, that I can get it from Sprint.
I was and still am only syncing Contacts and Calendar. I did add Tasks at one point to see if that would help, but it didn't.

Re: HTC Mogul Upgraded to WM 6.1 "breaks" ActiveSync
Too bad, days have passed and I'm in the same boat. I previously used a HTC TyTN (the classic so to speak) and syncing went fine. But I've 'upgraded' to a HTC Touch Pro (yes, WM 6.1) and having exact the same problem with syncing between my office computer and my home computer. So I went to hear from the horses mouth to learn that the problem a lot of users still exists - and maybe for all except the problem doesn't show because they don't sync with two computers. Would an upgrade of ActiveSync be sufficient to remedy these problems?

Re: HTC Mogul Upgraded to WM 6.1 "breaks" ActiveSync
Hello again, Kathleen, and everyone else watching this thread. We've heard back from the product development team, and they've provided some specific diagnostic steps you can take to help them figure this problem out. Here's their request: Collect the following files if possible from both of the Windows XP systems that
the customer uses to sync with.
%temp%\wceslog.log
%temp%\wcesmgr.log Steps
to collect the files on each system. 1)
Go
to "Start" 2)
Select
"Run" 3)
In
the "Run" box type %temp%wceslog.log a.
The
file should open 4)
Select
"File" then "Save As" 5)
In
the File name box save the file as machine1wceslog on machine 1
6)
Choose
to save the files to the desktop or another location that is easy to find
Do
the same process for the %temp%\wcesmgr.log file expect in Step 3 use the
%temp%\wcesmgr.log and choose to save the file as
machine1wcesmgr Now
do the same steps for both file on machine 2 and remember to name the files
accordingly.

And then what? Should we send the Log files to some one? Maybe you hit the post button too soon. :)

Re: HTC Mogul Upgraded to WM 6.1 "breaks" ActiveSync
Something like that! Yes, it would help if there were a concluding step that said: - Please attach the log files to an e-mail and send to me at the following address: wfisher at gpworldwide dot com
I'll then forward everything to the dev team. Thanks!

Re: HTC Mogul Upgraded to WM 6.1 "breaks" ActiveSync
Hi Bill:
This is so great! I am working on getting the logs together.
In the meantime, I also posted a link to this thread over at microsoft.public.pocketpc.activesync - a few people there have also reported the same problem.
And I also blogged it: http://msmvps.com/blogs/spiderwebwoman/archive/2008/10/18/1651249.aspx

Re: HTC Mogul Upgraded to WM 6.1 "breaks" ActiveSync
Laura Rooke:Hi Kathleen - Welcome to the Connection.
What version of Activesync are you using - you will need the latest which is ActiveSync 4.5.
You might also want to run a scan of your .pst file..
"scanpst.exe" is located in:
"C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\MSMAPI\1033\SCANPST.EXE"
double click on Scanpst.exe and it will ask you to select your Outlook.pst file
To find Outlook.pst file...................................
from OUTLOOK , click on File, Data File Management
Then click on Personal Folders (I have 2, one is the Outlook backup file) - it should say 'Mail Delivery' in the Comments column.
Now click on Settings
On this next screen it will show you the Filename of your Outlook.pst file - use the forward arrow to see the complete file name.
for example, my file is called
C:\Documents and Settings\Laura\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\Microsoft\Outlook\Outlook.pst
Please let us know if this helps.
Hello. I am having the same problem. Under 6.0 I used to sync with my personal laptop and Exchange Server at work. Now with 6.1 I decided to begin syncing with my desktop (Vista Home) and my laptop (XP Professional with Active Sync 4.5) and work as well. Unfortunately, once I added my desktop to the sync I am unable to sync with my laptop. I couldn't find any help with that, so I decided that I could live with not syncing with my laptop. Now I can't sync with my desktop either (Active Sync encountered a problem on the desktop - 0x86000107). I tried to run the pst scan, but scanpst.exe does not exist in that folder. The only files that I have in the 1033 folder are .log and MSMAPI32.dll. I searched the computer but couldn't find it. Since I run Vista, should I be looking for another file?
