    Most dramatic phone destruction?

I was witness to one of the greatest iPhone destructions of all time.

My co-worker downloaded and installed iGolf, a driving range simulator that uses the accelleromer (sp?) to "judge" driving prowess.  While trying it, the iPhone flew out of it's case and hit a steel crossbar in our front windows and killed the phone and display, Wiimote style!

What's your favorite phone destruction story? (Will it Blend? vids don't count) Stick out tongue

Is that a true story? That app sounds like a perfect recipe for destruction! Given all I've been hearing about how restrictive the Apple App Store is toward developers, I'm surprised that one made it. Or maybe I'm not surprised...

Unfortunately (read: fortunately) They are designing most of the newer ones to break apart on impact. The amount of times I've dropped a windows mobile device and it explodes into a million peices (by design) and you just assemble it and its fine.  This is one of the problems with the iphone, there's no crumple-zone!

Same thing happened with a Tilt my other co-worker had....went to check a text, flew off the counter and the screen hit the register.

It wasn't a very violent destruction, but I was as my friend slowly dropped a phone into a cup of coffee.  He had just upgraded to a smaller phone, and with his old phone he could rest it accross the top of the cup and carry them both in one hand,  it was too big to fall in.

His new phone didn't even have the length to span the cup and watching him as he got up to go to the next room and out of habit put his phone on top of the cup, and .. plonk straight in.   There was a long silence spent just looking at the cup before he fished it out.  Completely buggered of course.

Not dramatic but definately irony.. A co worker in the middle of a nasty divorce went to the wash room and while washing his hands he set his WM device on the edge of the sink. Just about that time his soon to be X wife while trying to send a text to someone else ends up sending it to my co worker. The vibrator sends the phone into the sink and the end of it's life.

This is a  good word of caution - you definitely should not leave the phone on vibrate mode and place it precariously in any place !

My suggestion is to not put your phone anywhere near a bathroom at all.  A lot of my customers shower with their phones on the sink, and lots of times steam is enough to change the water damage indicator, then the phone has other issues and it's not in warranty cause it's "water damaged".

if you really need to have music in the bathroom, invest in a set of Bluetooth speakers. Smile

I have also had customers tell me they actually text while in the shower. Holding the phone outside the curtain. I can see a future where psychologists make a fortune helping today's kids with phone addiction.

I was told second hand, that the guys at Smack Down, TechEd Australia, placed a Balckberry in a cereal bowl, while it was on, and pored milk on it. I would have loved to have seen that !
