Hosted Exchange Gets Even Easier with GoDaddy.com

    Check out this announcement!

"GoDaddy.com Inc., the world’s largest domain registrar and largest hosting provider in North America, and Microsoft Corp. today announced that GoDaddy.com is delivering mobile and group e-mail plans with Microsoft Outlook, powered by Microsoft Exchange Server 2007, to help small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) improve worker productivity and communications regardless of physical location. The new e-mail plans from GoDaddy.com, including Personal Outlook, Outlook with Mobile, and Group Outlook with Mobile, give SMBs the ability to manage all of their online services from one place"

I went and looked up pricing for Hosted Exchange with GoDaddy, which includes mobile access, and found that for one mailbox you can get your own mobile-accessible Exchange Server 2007 account for $8.99 a month or even less, depending on the length of your contract. If you need 5 mailboxes for a small business, it looks like $53.99 a month or less! Wow.

Check out the details from GoDaddy.com.

I like this idea, but I would also like to have a Sharepoint tied in as well.   Anyone know of this kind of bundle?

Re: Hosted Exchange Gets Even Easier with GoDaddy.com

A quick look at the partner directory turned up 123 Together, which provides both Exchange Server and SharePoint hosted packages. I couldn't find anything that was a complete all-in-one bundle - most seem to have Exchange and SharePoint packaged separately, requiring you to purchase a la carte...

It looks like mail2web might also have a good deal on SharePoint with Exchange. I've liked their e-mail service in the past, so this might be worth investigating...

Re: Hosted Exchange Gets Even Easier with GoDaddy.com

As a follow-up, I thought I'd post a link to this nice article from jkOnTheRun: Hosted Exchange 101. It's a great high-level summary of why someone might want Hosted Exchange. Here's a quick pull-quote:

    What does Hosted Exchange provide?

Obviously, you have a centralized e-mail server with a hosted Exchange plan, the same as you have with Gmail, Yahoo! Mail and the like. There are a few key differences however; some may help you decide if you need a hosted Exchange plan or not.

One key feature is that Exchange provides not just your mail and all of your e-mail folders, but your Calendar appointments, Contacts, Notes and Tasks. With one single client connected to Exchange, you can keep all of these artifacts in sync. To this point in time, the ability to have all of this information stored, integrated and backed up in one central location has been one of the two main reasons I've kept a hosted Exchange account.

The second reason is the support for Direct Push synchronization. This is the ability to have all of my information on the Exchange server sent to my many mobile devices in near real-time. I don't have to worry about a manual send and receive function, nor do I need to synchronize my clients with the Exchange server: it simply stays in sync.
     Nice!
