samsung omnia settings to get MMS

I bought a samsung OMNIA, which i believe is the singapore version / model and it's unlocked.

i'm in the states usa and use at&t, currently i can connect, get online, make calls or sms texts. the phone is beyond words and is really to me a better product over the iphone. i have one problem though and no one seems to be able to answer it for me.....

HOW DO I GET - MMS - WORKING ON THIS PHONE?

Welcome to the Connection, richardwest. I don't have an AT&T phone to test with, but one thing you might check is Messaging > Menu > MMS Options > Servers, and then make sure you have set up the MMS server info, which with AT&T should be mmsc.cingular.com as the server address, and wireless.cingular.com for the gateway. You m ay need to set up a new MMS server with this info. Good luck!

Re: samsung omnia settings to get MMS

i'm a noo'b when it comes to phone settings... it would be so great if there was a site or someplace with info that made this a step by step process. i called at&t and even samsung to no end for advice or settings and still havent figured this out. it's alot to do with no one seems to have one here or those that are buying the phone unlocked obvisously know what they're doing with the settings for thier network carriers. lol, i haven't a clue.... without some sort of step by step. at&t rep's are like autostore counter workers, they only go off of what the computer reads out to them. so there of no help because this phone isn't in the at&t system.

someone i'm sure will be posting up how to's soon, it would just be nice to know if its a operating lock out or feature that can be downloaded or something to just click this or here and wa' la - it's mms'ing..... lol

meanwhile, i can't seem to try other settings based off of other phones like the at&t tilt or sometihng running windows 6.1 because this operating system is different when i try to match up settings or compare inputting them based on another op' system on another phone.

if ANYONE has the knowledge or settings needed to install or properly set up my OMNIA for at&t mms settings? please respond, Thx

Re: samsung omnia settings to get MMS

You're right, richardwest - it would be great if someone had one in hand and could give some advice. But here in the States, you're ahead of the curve! So at this point some exploration is going to be required, unfortunately...

To get started, open your e-mail inbox, and look for the Menu button at the bottom of the screen. Click Menu, and you should see an item called MMS Settings. At least, that's what I've got on another AT&T phone here in the office. If you don't have this menu item, I'm at a loss!

but if you do see MMS Settings, click it, and then look for the Servers tab on the screen that follows. Click Servers, and you should either see the name of an existing MMS server such as "AT&T MMS" or something similar, or you'll see nothing listed in the box. If you have an existing server listed, click it to open the settings for it, and you should see various fields you can check against the ones I noted above. If there isn't an existing server, you'll have to click to create a new server. Just give it a name you choose, and enter the settings I noted above.

Richardwest, I have a CAB File that you can copy to the Omnia and then double click it where you have stored it on your device and it will setup MMS for you according to AT&T settings. Drop me an email and I will email you the file.

Also Iam looking for step by step instructions to post here.

Also I found this post over at MoDaCo about the MMS Settings also. There are 2 files there you can run and you should be working fine! But you will need to register there to download the files.

Hi Richard. Can you please save the cab file that yrless sent you on your computer somewher - most probably just on your desktop.

Now connect your device via Activesync.

    Double click on My Computer.

You should now see your device listed as a mobile device.

Double click on it to open it up just like you would a folder. You can also open up folders and storage cards within the device.

Now drag and drop the cab file file into one of the folders - you can out the file in your My Documents folder. Now on your device, find that cab file and click on it.

It will now run and and it will apply the correct settings.

Go back to where you found the cab file on your device - Click and hold, then you can delete it.

Re: samsung omnia settings to get MMS

ok, alot of thank you's and some appreciation of gratitudes for the chance to be on here and talk and do some problem solving, so again thx everyone.

I was able to download the cab files, and open them on my phone too. although..........

nothing has changed or worked thus far. lol - i still do not have MMS or internet working as of yet.

this is crazy, could it be that theres a program stopping this from going thru? i don't have a manual or anyway of knowing how to open up this operating system to figure why i can't get this to work? makes no sense...

Richardwest...please explain the process  of how you opened the cab files. Did you run the DNS file first? Then did you do a soft rest of the device? Also did you set both connections to Media Net?

    Good morning peeps.

I have been following this one via the email alerts and the above line makes me think that I know how to resolve this.

I'm on O2 UK (always have been) and each time I hard reset the device one of first things that it runs is the O2 gateway settings to let my devices talk to the outside world. These settings come from 2 .cabs, 1 to handle the MMS settings and one to handle the Internet Access.

If somebody on AT&T can open their Windows folder and sort by type. There should only be a few .cabs in there, including a selection of Post_Pay and Pre_Pay cabs and a set which include MMS in their titles.

It looks as though Richard has received the MMS cab, so should now just need the AT&T_Post_Pay.cab for setting up his internet settings.

Richard, this can loaded in the same way as your MMS settings cab. It will be worth keeping a secure copy of these on your memory card, for future use.

I have looked on both my TILT and Q , but I don't see these cab files.

Re: samsung omnia settings to get MMS

Since my device is a unlocked device I do not have those cab files either.....Richard...have you tried running the connection wizard to see if it can get the setting automatically also? I did that and it worked also....configured internet and MMS.

    I sent Richardwest 2 files

1.ATT_Settings_DNS_TCPIP_1 - which should be ran first then a soft rest

    2. attsettings2_1 - which should be ran second then a soft rest
