QUOTE:
The device will cost $100 with a two-year contract (and a $100 mail-in rebate), positioning it as an option for those considering similarly priced devices at the carrier, which include the BlackBerry Curve 8110 and the Palm Centro.
The Epix runs on Microsoft Corp.’s Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional and offers an HSPA connection, with EDGE compatibility.
The slab-style device features a QWERTY keypad, a touchscreen and a “mouse,” whose description sounds like a trackball (akin to BlackBerry) or a scroll wheel (akin to an iPod). The “mouse” can be placed in four-way navigation mode. The touchscreen can be operated with a finger or a built-in stylus.
Features include Wi-Fi (for AT&T Mobility’s 17,000 hotspots nationwide), assisted-GPS (for AT&T Navigator), AT&T Video Share (live video with live voice call) and a 2.0 megapixel camera. The device offers an array of e-mail capabilities.
