POLL: What Makes a Good Sweepstakes?

    Hi, everyone -

Here at Windows Mobile headquarters, we've been talking about what kind of giveaways, sweepstakes, and other promotions we might launch on the Windows Mobile Training site in the coming year, and I thought it would be a good idea to ask the Connection members.

Last year, if you were in an eligible market, you saw the Champions Sweepstakes, where we gave away Xbox 360 consoles, DVDs, and a grand prize trip to the Bahamas. How did you like that contest, and what would you like to see next? Please vote in the poll below, and feel free to add a comment if you have additional suggestions. Thanks!

Which sweepstakes idea most appeals to you?

Let us know which, if any, of these sweepstakes possibilities sound the best to you, or which do you think would most appeal to your colleagues? We're really interested to hear your thoughts. Thanks for participating!

It's ok, your secret is safe. I have voted!

Wait its not,  my vote requires a comment so we know what i voted now :S

Maybe have "packages" that is..  an electronics package,  and you can choose from a set list of items..  phone, xbox etc.

I don't know how your purchasing for competitions works on the back-end so its hard to say.

I think Bill answered the question in his second paragraph.  A mixture of items creates a desired Sweepstakes.  I think also a sweepstakes were everyone wins, I'm not talking about winning the grand prize or something expensive, but where everyone who is entered automatically gets a t-shirt, sweatshirt (it's going to be winter so it makes sense) or hat, some kind of apparell/swag to represent Windows Mobile and help promote the site.

I prefer the sweeps where you have to do something to participate. The 11 in 11 one is a great idea. Maybe a sweep every couple of days and only those who have participated (by doing training courses, posting, or even just logging on and viewing stuff etc) are entered?

Your safe now Doug! But I also agree with Dave....participation...is key...not just once but some type of continuous activity for a period of time. And as  BBYMS23 pointed out...also make everyone a winner with some type of "prize" just for participating.

Great post yrless, as well as everyone who contributed to this thread.  Participation should be the number one factor, I third that notion.  As a new member to the connection, and a fairly new member to Windows Mobile Training, I like to see that those who are dedicated and have stuck through the longest to acquire the most knowledge possible get treated with the respect that is due.  On that note (being new) I wouldn't mind seeing a tier of prizes where members who have been enrolled the longest and participate regularly have access to exclusive "upper" tier prize levels, as long as newer members that participate regularly have the chance to win prizes as well (just not from the exclusive tier of course).
