WMExperts.com has an interesting new piece talking about the media's recurring warnings about mobile viruses - on Windows Mobile devices and otherwise. As WMExperts notes, it seems that someone is always claiming that large mobile virus outbreaks are right around the corner, and there are plenty of anti-virus products available for Windows Mobile to deal with the presumed threat. However, the folks at WMExperts there do NOT recommend taking any action now:
One question we hear a lot from new WM users is do they need an anti-virus program for their device? ... The general answer we give is for now: no--you don't need this software. Using it will merely slow down your device, is added cost and premature.
I thought this was an interesting issue, and one that it's likely many customers wonder about. What do you think? Threat or not?
