Re: The Coolest Applications for Windows Mobile?
SPB MS2, best commercial application, it has also the most beautiful skins or skin suite (Slide 2 unlock, Home .tsk and SPB MS2) available for WM6. Easy to change the interface language from the ROM one.
S2U and PocketCM the best freeware applications
True Connect, best PC companion, I use it to sync and JOIN SMSes between devices, to save and store it, and to have my device displayed on projector's screen during "combined" presentations (powerpoint and live device demo). It work in realVGA too on ATHENA
Someone please send a true Connect DEMO licence to MS Italy . I am bored to see the applications presented using the device handled in a moving hand, filmed using a video camera, during windows mobile presentations. This is the way to KILL the mobile application instead of promoting it!
Those IMHO are a "must have" for any WM6 PRO user.
Regarding WM6 Standard True connect works fine, Total commander is the best freeware file manager for WM6 ST, Celetask, more than a task manager!
TOM TOM on both (Pro and ST) is widely used too and is a big value for money

Hi Sergiopi
Glad you find True Connect so useful!
We would be more than happy to supply a demo licence to MS Italy - just get them to email in to support@raspberrysoftware.com. In their defence, we have spoken to some of the MS people in Europe before, and they kind of like the whole 'camera and hand' point of view, so that the people in the audience don't think the screen shots are just a video playback! And they do already use it for some things (if you have seen the giant sized WM6 device, thats using True Connect). But if someone here gives the right people a nudge, we will sort out some licenses for presentations.
Regards
Pete

Re: The Coolest Applications for Windows Mobile?
Love SPB MS aswell, though it does seem to be a killer when it comes to battery life. Another app I haven't seen here yet: WM Wifi Router, http://www.wmwifirouter.com/ A very easy way to turn your mobile into an ad-hoc wifi access point. Ideal for someone who's on the road a lot and has an unlimited data account. Too bad they changed from freeware to payware recently. Luckily I still have the free cab ;)

Quick reply, to stay on topic: the strongest point using true connect against a WM Emulated Machine during a live demo is the USE of the device during the DEMO. You TAP the device's screen during the presentation (obviously I am not using it with PC mouse and Kb during demo! ).The audience clearly "feel" the device in my experience. The small lag between the device's screen and the PC transferred screen helps during the presentation too !

What can I say Sergiopi - I absolutely agree with you. We put the full screen mode of On Screen Connect in with demos and training in mind - its good to know that its getting used like that!

Re: The Coolest Applications for Windows Mobile?
Due to its inconsistency with the current system (until WM6.1) I disagree with Spb Mobile Shell 2, although it looks compelling. It already almost goes the WM7 way (which is definitely the right way to go), so when it'll be adapted to WM7, it might be mine (if devices are equipped with more integrated storage). [EDITED: re. Spb Mobile Shell see later posting: http://www.windowsmobiletraining.com/connection/forums/p/201/1320.aspx#1320 ]
And I also need to disagree with Microsoft Voice Command as it is by far not flexible enough for what it shall do. I really prefer Cyberon Voice Speed Dial - I can launch about anything (including voice calls etc etc) with just my own voice (even in Bavarian German). I fully agree with some of the other suggestions like: Resco Explorer 2007 PocketInformant 8 Opera 8.65 and, even better, 9.5 Spb Backup Resco Photo Viewer Pro (for .tga files I require Conduits Pocket Artist) S2U2 - after some config (shows time with seconds etc) a real MUST HAVE And I also really like the HTC Home Screen which is (on HTC devices) my only active today plugin besides SBSH iLauncher
What I need to add urgently: SOTI Pocket Controller 6 (a real MUST for experts, pros and geeks) iGO - by far the greatest GPS navigation solution (anything else incl. TomTom looks outdated) SoftMaker Office 2008 - sophisticated and only real professional Office Suite for Pocket PCs second to none! (no more need to convert and loose data / formatting) CorePlayer - most versatile media player BurrOak pTravelAlarm - my Pocket PC has become my only alarm clock AI RoboForm - though not integrated in browser, it auto-syncs web logins with desktop app MarsWare WeatherPanel - still the best although no longer supported
The following are also really cool apps, if you are looking for their special functionality: Skype Westtek JETCET Print - for direct printing via BT (+ AnyCom BT dongle for printer) WorldCard Mobile - mobile biz card scanning and (after adjusting details) storing as new contact Subsembly Banking - fully featured mobile banking software (for the German market)
And when it comes to games: Resco Sudoku Touch PDAmill GameBox ... all of them Naval Conflicts - very nice enhanced version of BattleShip PocketConquest - Sean O'Connor's version of Risk has been my all time favorite since years
Hopefully there were some helpful recommendations among my personal faves.
I may have missed a great RSS feed reader (which at least can save single postings) ... any suggestions?

TouchPal Pro v3
-
Microsoft Voice Command
-
PHM Regedit
-
Schap's Advanced Config
-
Some kind of PDF viewer
-
Live Search
-
Google Maps
-
TomTom (my current "least annoying" GPS program, but still not as good as it should be)
-
New Menu for WM5 (love this program, very customizable)
-
HTC's Camera Album (great for showing pictures to iPhone users)

Spb Insight
On the desktop, Jeyo Mobile Companion 2 is a must have for me. It lets you backup/restore text messages and call history. Also SOTI Pocket Controller is another must-have for me, since I do reviews of all this stuff.
Fitaly would have been on that list a couple years ago too.
Also, I'm not a fan of Spb Mobile Shell. I like to use the keyboard to navigate the device with shortcuts, and Mobile Shell gets in the way of that. Also, it's got a lot of mystery meat icons that are hard to understand. I don't speak in icons and learning this icon-language is a waste of time in my opinion. New users will certainly be frustrated by that obvious ease-of-use problem. The interface reduces the jog wheel usability, as well. I guess if your device only has a touch screen then it might be an improvement, but... it doesn't help me get to an appointment on time... it doesn't offer increased communications features... and it doesn't offer faster input or navigation features (compared to keyboard shortcuts).

Re: The Coolest Applications for Windows Mobile?
That is a pretty nifty program. However, have you heard of CellSpin? I'm not sure where my friends and I would be without this fun toy. "CellSpin - a mobile application that allows one to send audio, video, text, and images on over 300+ phones to popular websites such as Livejournal, Ebay, Flickr, etc... " It can't get better than that.
