Nokia has announced the Nokia Home Control Center, which it hopes will power a new approach to smart home solutions. The Nokia Home Control Center was developed to provide a single interface that will tie in with various smart home appliances, allowing users to control various aspects of their home either from their PC or their cell phone.
Nokia partnered with RWE, one of the leading energy providers in Europe, to develop the system, which will initially allow consumers to monitor their home's energy consumption, and make changes remotely to conserve energy and reduce their energy bills.
Nokia's Home Control Center is based on open standards, so that third parties can develop plug-ins that add various functionalities to the overall system. More information on the project can be found at Nokia's website.
