Weekend Quiz - Which Company Works Here?

OK - so this week I've tried to make it harder....

This company has a seventh floor office in this town. When I was growing up in England, I lived in a small village in beautiful countryside, but just a few miles down the road was this ugly town. It was so bad then (not sure if it still is) that a poem was written about it by a very famous poet.

This is one line from the poem

"It isn't fit for humans now"

So which company and which poet?

Is the company Vertex in Berkshire? Is the poet John Beteman?

    Correct poet - John Betjeman.

Wrong company. Berkshire is the correct county - but I'm looking for the town (in the U.S. this would be a city)

So, the town is Slough - I got that straight away.

The only major player that I can think of is, BT?

Slough is correct - the company is definitely a major player in the Windows Mobile world - they make the device that I would so love to have next.

So I've just found that it is HTC.

HTC strengthened its European handle with a multi-million pound investment to build a senior sales and marketing team based in Slough back in November 2005.
