The HTC Touch Diamond is apparently now available with a more plain, less stylized look. Code named the HTC Victor, this version of the Touch Diamond looks very much like the customized version being launched by Telus, a Canadian CDMA carrier.

Both O2 and T-Mobile will be shipping the Victor.

O2 will be releasing it as the O2 XDA Diamond and T-mobile's version will be called the MDA Compact IV.

T-Mobile are also releasing the MDA Vario IV, which is a Victor equvalent of the Touch Pro.

Both devices have rounded corners and drop the diamond angled back. They will each have a corporation colour version of TouchFlo3D. O2 will have a Blue background with White text, T-Mobile have opted for a White background with pink text.  It will be interesting to see anybody creates an app to port these colours on the original HTC Diamond.

I wonder if those soft-touch smooth backings will slide onto a regular Touch Diamond, hence only requireing the purchase of a different battery cover in order to transform from Diamond to Victor.

Also, I've been trying to promote the development of an extensible theme changer on XDA-Developers, but no one has taken up the challenge.

The Victor appears to have rounded corners, so I don't think the backs will be interchangeable.

The HTC Touch Cruise and the O2 Orbit 2 are both the HTC Polaris, but the corners mean that the covers will not swap.

It was also the same with the HTC Artemis - the HTC P3300.

I'm sure some After Market Company will come up with different backs....I will keep my eyes open!

Next week I'm going to order some extra Diamond backs and send them to a tatoo artist painter friend for some customizing.  ;)  I'm considering a soft-touch clear coat finish, but I don't know if that will make the design too muted. I also want to do a color-changing Chromaflair version.

As the back has those angled sides, the light should still pickout the detail.

You'll have to post some pictures of the results.
