The 850 band was first enabled by somebody over at XDA Developers and then HTC released this official ROM shortly afterwards.

I guess HTC would rather keep the OS for the Diamond "pure" rather then let the guys over at XDA.....take the credit and the glory for long! XDA Developers have a group of sharp ppl....Thats why my 9000 now runs 6.1

It is more that I find the disabling by HTC strange.

Yes strange indeed...or maybe an over sight.....I hope the Touch Pro has that worked out before they hit the market in a few weeks here in the states.
