    Touch Diamond Adam Edition

Here's my customized Touch Diamond with color shifting technology.  The Diamond was pretty good looking to begin with, but this new paint job puts it over the top.  Original post here.

That's way cool. I wish my Touch had the angled back now...... Sad

Did you do it yourself Adam or get it done professionally?

There is slick and then there is über slick.

I like how you have kept the HTC writing on the back.

Apparently Adam foudn Brendan's AutoBody Repairs to perform the transformation.

    Innovative choice!

Yeah, I've always wanted to use that color changing paint on a phone, and the Diamond was perfect since practically its whole body slides off as the battery cover. It makes it very easy to do custom paint jobs!

Glad y'all like it.  I find myself walking around outside just looking at the back of it change colors in the light.  So many different shades too!  :)

I had tried to do it myself, but paint doesn't stick very well to the shiny plastic of the original Diamond, so I just went to the local autobody shop and they did it flawlessly.  I'm sure any autobody shop would be able to do it.  Just slide the battery cover off, tape up the camera hole, and they can do anything.  It's easier if you bring your own paint too.

I'd be interested to hear how much of a beating the finish takes. Whether you get any dinks of flakes etc.

I don't think I'm going to specifically test that, but it's definitely a high-quality finish.  I'm sure I could scratch it with a razorblade, but it's baked on there good.  It feels exactly like the factory battery cover.  Even the edges are perfect.  I'm really happy with it.

There was alot of this when the Sony Ericsson P800 arrived. Most of the panes came off quite easy and there was alot of painting done by the actual owner.

I never had the mingles to dare to try this myself and I wouldn't have thought about taking it to car body shop.

Seeing these results I wouldn't be suprised to more popping up.

Adam, you may have started something here!

    Awe Yeah!

I have another one in progress at a tattoo artist friend's shop.  ;)  We'll see how that turns out.

You can buy extra battery covers for the Touch Diamond now, so it's not like you're potentially ruining a really expensive phone.  Just slide the stock cover back on for warranty repair.
