Poll: Touchscreen or not?
Poll: Touchscreen or not?Until recently, I couldn't imagine life without a touchscreen device, but just recently I got used to the one-handed method, and now almost prefer it, until it comes to writing long text messages, emails or such. At this point I get out my stylus and I like to use the letter recognition method.
Just wondering what everyone else prefers, and why? Wouldn't be without a touchscreen (32%) Only use keyboard (non-touchscreen) (16%) I use multiple devices and multiple input methods (52%)

Re: Poll: Touchscreen or not?
For long text entry, nothing beats the compact Bluetooth keyboard I use with my Treo 750.
I had SCADS of people coming to look at it during Summit.

Vengeance? Did it kill your family and steal your land or something?
Here's a post about my experiment at MVP Summit, codenamed More Mobile Than Mobile.

You and me both!
Just thinking about it made me drool on my keyboard like Pavlov's dog.

Re: Poll: Touchscreen or not?
I love the touch screen devices and they are a joy to use... Though my one weakness is the Excalibur, I can go back to that one anytime. And imagine my joy when i participate in the initial System Center MDM beta and the only 6.1 device you could get at the time was the Excalibur, Needless to say I was in heaven!.

Re: Poll: Touchscreen or not?
I use multiple devices and multiple input methods all the time. Primary right now is the Kaiser since I can navigate everything with the keyboard for speed/efficiency... or use the touch screen (& TouchPal Pro) with one hand when I don't want to slide out the keyboard... or use the thumbwheel when I just want to read something... or tilt up the screen and peck at the keyboard when a desk is available. The flexibility is really great.
Not using the touch screen is definitely faster if you have the proper hardware buttons/keyboard... UNTIL it comes to doing things like scrolling or selecting multiple items/text.

Re: Poll: Touchscreen or not?
I had this discussion with a customer yesterday. They are a workers union, and are going to roll out Windows Mobile in a large scale to all their honorary posts (a lot...). We have still not concluded, but they are probably going to offer people a choice between HTC S730 (or something similar if HTC ever launch a Standard phone again), or the Touch models (Touch or Touch Dual). I love the touch-screen, but I also switch between devices. But if I had to choose more permanently, I would go for a touch-screen anyday! I guess it all boils down to needs and technical interest.

Re: Poll: Touchscreen or not?
I use two HTC S620 and a 8125. The latter being quite thick, I always have my 620s with me. The slim form factor makes it great for one handed operation and it's superfast despite the 201 Mhz processor. I like the touchscreen device, but the 620 is awesome.
Now, ask me what my perfect device is, I'd say one with touchscreen and a keyboard like the S620 and the same form factor.
I'm actually posting to this forum from one of my 620s.

Linley Meslier:I use two HTC S620 and a 8125. 8125 is an awesome device. I dont know why imate butchered the form factor for the Kjam. 8125, although bulky.. i keep going back to it, if i need a workhorse for testing.

Re: Poll: Touchscreen or not?
I moved away from hardware keyboards about 6 years when I snapped up the P800. I took the flip keyboard away before I even switched it on. I did have a stint using the slide out qwerty keybord on the O2 XDA Mini s, but that was because the screen was sunken and a real struggle to hit the delete key. I have now use the HTC keyboard and I can type just as fast as with a slide keyboard, but remove so much of the bulk of the device. Personally, A perfect phone for me would have nothing but screen. Something like thi:
But, of course, running WinMo and not Android.
