In my opinion getting equiped with  SOTI Pocket Controller is helpful

it allows you to capture video, screenshots and even more from your pocket PC

Pocket Controller makes Mobility development much easier from the desktop.

You can find it on: http://www.soti.net/

    Regards,

    Khaled

     Khaled.

I use SOTI all day long,  the good thing is,  you can connect a device to wifi and use SOTI over the network.

This works really well for us, we have a remote developer, and if we need to test on a specific device that we only have in the head office, i connect it to wifi, give him the IP and he's away.

Although, i dont know if you've seen it or not,  check out trueconnect.  It was in this thread earlier i belive.  The main reason i want to use true connect is the ability to just click on the screen for smartphone/ standard devices. check it out.

    Thanks David...

Yeah I am using it on my day to day work, I cant live without it anymore.

Its an essential tool for any mobile solutions developer. you can avoid having the device cradled to your desktop and do your testing and development anywhere any time.

Its a good idea to grab Micrososft attention to do something similar to SOTI Pocket Controller as a part of the new WMDC in Vista.

Last week in Dubai, I was attending a conference held by Micrososft about Windows Mobile6 and the presenter was using SOTI for the demo :)

Its a great product. Have you seen Mobicontrol in action?  Incredible.

Re: The Coolest Applications for Windows Mobile?

I have to agree with all of the posts so far in this thread.

May I intruduce four further programs to the discussion:

Firstly GSFinder+    A great file explorer which does all that Resco Explorer does, but is freeware, was created in 2005 by Y.Nagamidori and its cab only takes up 409K. This lives in my 'Essential' folder on my card and is always the first App to be installed.

Next is Vista Hide Battery Gauge.exe    A small 12Kb .exe which puts a 3 pixel height coloured battery bar along the very top of your today screen.I love this program as it gives a subconscious indicator of your battery level and also looks very funky.

My third is QuickMenu 2.7    A StartMenu replacement with full taskbar functionality and highly customizable fo each individuals needs.

The last is XM View/XM Pocket   This is a fantastically powerful image viewer/editor. I seldom hear it mentioned and yet it really deserves so much more praise.

Going to those already mentioned, S2U2 is a must (especailly the new version 1.01), The builtin RSS Hub is perfec and ie.6.1 is a definite improvement.

Re: The Coolest Applications for Windows Mobile?

In a previous posting in this thread I disagreed with Spb Mobile Shell ...

Hmm, actually, I have to admit that I revised my point of view, I needed to.
It has changed since a presentation held in our last user group meeting.

Such presentations (internal by members and external by guests) take place since we founded our group "CLUB POCKET PC MUNICH" 6 years ago, continously every month, and we all learnt a lot.
They are never sales promos, but purely interactive including in-depth questions-and-answers, first hand and background information, sometimes non-official and even pre-release.

It sometimes takes quite some efforts to maintain this content focused approach with dedicated (ever changing) topics, be it due to preparing and creating the presentations ourselves or identifying guests and fixing appointments,
but the benefits for our members were compelling and they always appreciated these efforts.

This time, actually the first time we had Spb as guests and topic, it was a "home run" for them.
Olya Gachko from Spb in St. Petersburg (Russia) visited us and Jakob Ginzburg, German support for Spb, and meanwhile also member in our local Munich group, held the presentation.

Jakob did a really great job, went through all of the extended functionality, answered all questions and demonstrated the professional, consistent, flexible, user friendly, touch enabled and ground-breaking approach of Spb Mobile Shell (current version 2.1).

As always, You need to give it a try and really look closer before expressing a precipitate disapproval.

    Bottom line:
Spb Mobile Shell now also belongs to MY coolest applications for Windows Mobile !

Not only because it is a great piece of software with excellent functionality and usability, but especially because Spb managed to perfectly integrate all of it into the current OS and GUI.
I was extremely and positively surprised that I couldn't find the suspected inconsistencies I worried about before and also knew from "similar" applications by other software manufacturers.
So, also, well done, Spb, a really great job.

WOW - that must have been a great presentation -Spb Software House is one of my favorite software sites - they are incredibly professional and always reach out to the mobile community.

Killer App. We needed to deploy 50 devices over three days and the customer only gave us one sim to use. Guess what we used... WifiRouter  This app saved us a lot of time.
