    Re: Voice command?

I dont use one unfortunately :(

I install them all the time and then never use them except when im in my house alone.

The looks i get from people when i hold my device infront of me and say "CALL WORK"...

Outside of windows mobile, i find the S60v3 app that most new Nokias have built in, to be very efficient.

Current Device - HTC Touch Pro- Ask me about this device

    Definitely:
    Cyberon Voice Speed Dial

It is by far more flexible than Microsoft Voice Command and I can launch about anything (incl. voice calls etc etc) by my own voice (even in Bavarian German).
It also has a much smaller footprint than the Microsoft app, therefore still can be installed (without negative performance impact and storage shortage) on devices with smaller integrated storage. It's my perfect match for that job.

Same here... there is something about talking to a machine that I find very little compelling.

I tried using voice commands when I had a job that required driving a car a lot, but after shouting "call my wife" seven times and it still kept calling my mom instead, I gave up Angry

    Hi Gaute,

would be interesting now: what application did you use for that?

Of course, it shall not ignore you but just "read from your lips".
Obviously yours was not the appropriate solution for that task.
I think I found one that does a great job, although I want to be able to have quick and easy (hardware / soft key) "button solutions" available for the same task in parallel, for mentioned reasons.

My left soft key is a well configured "WM5NewMenu" (freeware), the right soft key is "HandyMenu" from DinarSoft, both unfortunately are not very well known.
And I try to optimize hardware button settings accordingly (e.g. task manager, file explorer, browser, PIM).
Together with "SBSH iLauncher" on the today screen, in parallel to above 1-click voice input they enable me to get almost everything launched within just 2 clicks max.

I really agree that talking to the device often looks and sounds similarly stupid as using a more or less invisible bluetooth headset which makes you look like talking to yourself like a dweeb.
But maybe a quick "getting things done" is less of a problem than talking 10 minutes with "nobody"?

Whatever comes with the HTC devices... guessing that's Microsoft.

I used it with the Jabra bluetooth speaker I have in my car.

    Re: Voice command?

HTC devices usually come with Voice Speed Dial.  I don't like that program at all.  You have to record voice tags for its actions, so it's not really a voice recognition program.  Plus it's limited to creating voice tags for launching applications and dialing contact phone numbers.

Voice Central had some nice features, but it didn't work through Bluetooth and it didn't work with Media Player.  The Blackberry Voicesignal software is okay, but it only works with dialing contact names and checking phone status.  The Symbian s60 voice recognition program also is only good for dialing contacts.  I've also used VoiceSignal 2.1 on the Q9h. It works well and has options for sending text/email messages, but it doesn't integrate with the Calender or Media Player either.

So I'm with MS Voice Command 1.6 all the way.  I use it on my Kaiser with an Interphone enabled motorcycle helmet or Invisio bone conduction microphone headset.  It literally tells me the name of incoming callers while I'm on the motorcycle!  Then with the Interphone, I can say "Answer" to pick up.  It also announces appointment reminders, reads text messages to me, and reads email subjects as they arrive.  I can make phone calls, ask about my next appointments, ask for the time, and check phone status all without taking my eyes off the road. The only thing missing is some GPS integration so that I could say something like, "Navigate to next appointment" or "Navigate to contact name" so it could give me turn-by-turn directions.

Granted Voice Command works a lot better if you have a decent Bluetooth radio in your device as well as plenty of program memory and processing power. A lot of the older HTC devices had very noisey Bluetooth connections that did not work well for voice recognition at all.

Also, another thing I love... in the car with my Kaiser plugged into the stereo and GPS software running, I can press the button on my bluetooth headset and say "Play Kalaeloa" to change my Media Player's playlist without having to interact with the device and search manually... and without having to carry around another MP3 player or buy a Ford with Microsoft's Sync system installed.

    Franz,

Cyberon products look interesting but I never did find a place to download it.

That is hilarious! Although your mom must have been very pleased to hear from you...

    Hi Doug,

    I'm afraid you're right.
HTC devices often come shipped with pre-installed Cyberon software.
Actually, I also cannot find a link to Cyberon software directly, but ...

as always if you're looking for sophisticated ways to manage Pocket PC devices there's good answers and solutions on the famous forum http://forum.xda-developers.com (specialized for developers and testing scenarios),
for Cyberon Voice Dial you can find some more detailed information on
