    Perils of the Pocket Call

This article from MSNBC.COM about calls placed inadvertently, reminded me why I use a flip phone. I use a Motorla Razr phone for phone calls and I have a AT&T Tilt for my data needs. I also use my Tilt for text messaging as it just takes too long on the numeric keypad.

Laura I agree with you! I also use a Razor V3xxx and my Qtek 9000.

Re: Perils of the Pocket Call

I'm using the HTC Touch Cruise for data and call, so pocket calls are one of main concerns.

Those "ahh..." moments when a friend calls you to say that they have just had a plesent convo with your pocket and funny voicemails from a friend whose speed dial has decided to get in touch with you.

    Luckily, there are always options...

The builtin Screen Lock was switched on almost immidately when first received the phone, but since I have found a great freeware app Slide2Unlock2 (S2U2).

This is a must for anybody out there who really needs a functional lock to protect against pocket calls.

Yeah, the only one that I can think of is the Verizon Wireless PN-820.

I wonder if creating a useable screen size meant that the size of the device just became too large?

That one seems to have a standard keypad - I was thinking of something with a full keyboard but in flip form. I don't think there is such a thing though.

    Something like the Motorola MPX300?

The one which had the double hinge.

Now this looks really good - why don't they make more like this - it mentions that it has PPC2003SE - I wonder if they stil make it or sell it?

I think it was discontinued in '05.

But, considering davidc's photo, it may be worth seeing if he has one in there somewhere.

You'll probably be able to get one on ebay.

They were really compact as well

I'll have to ask david Big Smile

I wouldn't really want to go back to pre WM5 - it's strange now to think that we had to worry about the battery running down and losing all our data Crying

That phone is no longer in production...if you remember the MPX200 was the first Smartphone in the US. back in 05 made by Motorola. I had one, great phone..but in my opinion the screen was way to smalll to do anything. then came the improvements on the MXP series. And Motorola stop making them.

Yes - thought as much - thanks - so I still then pose the question........why don't they make flip SmartPhones?

Re: Perils of the Pocket Call

Very good question! Let me ask around and see if I can find out what is coming down the pike. My sources are pretty good and this! Yea I know what you mean. If Blackberry can come out with a flip....why cant there be a WM flip! I still think screen size is the main issue as of why we do not see them.

Re: Perils of the Pocket Call

I am holding dearly to my Startrek. I had it running WM 6.1 but now it's back to 6.0 after being upped from 5. The Erato was supposed to be its successor, but that's been cancelled.

I would have loved the Erato. I don't know why they cancelled it. Maybe because all the iphone people want touch phones and that has turned their attention towards that instead... even though we know that's not so great outside of the RDF.

Re: Perils of the Pocket Call

Also, I'm usually the recipient of pocket calls since my name is usually at the top of the list. I also get baby calls a lot. Those are fun.. When a friend's child gets a hold of their cell phone and calls me up, then I answer and have to switch to baby-talk mode during a photo-shoot or business meeting.
