WM7 - Sooner than we think???

According to a roadmap from device manufacturer MWg, the company plans to have a Windows Mobile 7 device on the market some time in the fourth quarter of this year. That's earlier than this version of this operating system had previously been expected.

The revelation came during a press event to announce the launch of the MWg brand in Europe, which was previously marketed as O2 Asia. At this, the company displayed a roadmap listing a number of smartphones and handheld devices. On this was a smartphone scheduled for release in Q4 2008 running Windows Mobile 7.

I hope it's true. Everyone is pretty tired of the current Windows Mobile version. Even when it was updated from WM5 to WM6, it was just barely cosmetic (and that didn't even impress anyone). And from WM6 to WM6.1, well...this isn't even worth mentioning.

Don't get me wrong, I love using Windows Mobile Professional for all its features, but you have to admit that it is dull and boring. It's time for a total makeover, and not just a face-lift.

I 'guess' that Windows Mobile 6 Professional has tried to retain a professional look. Which has meant, yes, it does look boring.

Considering the current differencs between 6 Professional and 6 Standard, I wonder if this will continue with Windows 7?

    I do hope not.

It doesn't bother me that it is plain looking. I do have a problem changing the look so much that we have to relearn our icons and such as was done with Vista. I am for keeping it simple for sure. There are a bunch of programs for free to change the look if one desires to.

It appears that this is a similar thread (already created) covering a similar line to this one:

RE: WM7 ... waht to expect?

Shall we move over to that one?
