About three in 10 households either only use mobile phones or rarely take calls on their landlines. This article is over at FierceWireless. It says that this survey was conducted by the U.S. Center for Disease Control. Am I missing something here?

My house has been landline telephone free since cross network inclusive minutes arrived. The landline is only place for Broadband.

Virtually my whole family has their own mobile, but I'm the only one to dispense with the land line phone. I wonder if they keep them for sentimentality???

Intersting... I cut the phone service off my land line quite some time ago. The line is now purely there for ADSL.

That being said, VoIP has entered my house in a major way. I have 2 x SIP Providers here in Australia, and a third based in the UK. All this comes back to a server at home running Asterisk. My family in the UK can call me or my parents via a local dial number in the UK, and it goes via the Internet, to a SIP phone at my parents. I also have a 5-6 user PABX running on the same server for all my friends - with their own extensions.

And just to keep 2 x local call numbers, the Australian VoIP providers allow me to cart around my 2 x dial in lines (DIDs) anywhere in Australia - or overseas. These are two numbers that I can expect to carry around with me for many, many years to come - no matter where I move to.

I still have one landline point in my house that I have hooked to a fax machine - I do keep it mainly for sentimental reasons - I keep thinking that I don't really need to fax papers , but every now and then it is really useful to be able to do this.

I use Vonage here in the US, which is a great service but it's a shame that sometimes (well often) the call quality is not that good. I like it in that I can have voice mails emailed to me. Also it is so much cheaper - $29.95 per month for unlimited calls including international calls to my family in England.

I have a phone but only for ADSL.  I haven't gone Naked adsl yet as I don't want my uploads to be metered . And also i sync in at 21mb/s so i don't want to touch it for fear of breaking the magical speeds.  

My router/modem has voip ports which i can use for a phone.. But really with the mobile plans that are around now days i just use my mobile 

I'm terrible about using a mobile phone to call people. I think my phone has only been used to call a handful of places, and then only when I'm on the road.

I have a digital land line through my cable provider and like that just fine.

However, my mobile gets used to IM, email, and web surf constantly.

My husband makes a ton of phone calls on his mobile. You know, come to think of it, he makes 90% of the phone calls in our house which may be why I don't make calls that much. I just don't like talking on the phone. :)
