Mobile phone battery dead? Try dancing

This will get us all fitter ?

Mobile Phone Operator Orange said on Tuesday it had teamed up with GotWind, a firm specializing in renewable energy, to produce a recharger powered by dance energy alone.

The portable kinetic energy chargers will be given a test run at this year's Glastonbury Festival, the world's biggest greenfield music and arts celebration that begins on a farm in Somerset, southwest England on Friday.

    Yahoo! has more details.

I heard about this on the radio.

Can you imagine if this was your only phone charger? I bet it would get you fitter then.

Or, make you stop using a mobile phone... one or the other certainly...

Talking about dancing, there is a new club just opened in London that uses dancers to power the club. The dancefloor uses piezoelectricity which when compressed create a charge that generates electricity. Anyone who would like to attend the club has to sign a pledge to work towards curbing climate change. but if you walk or cycle to the venue you can get in free.

Eco-Nightclub is one of the first of its kind, I listened to the owner as he was interviewed on Radio2 Cris Evans Drive time last week.

Cool idea - it's funny because people often say 'If we could only harness the energy of kids' - well... now we can.
