We finally launched! Wi-Not Mobile Beta available!

    Hello to everybody!

It has been a while since I last posted in Connection. We have been heaviliy stressed with organizing stuff but now we are ready! We have been around 'Connection' since it started and you have helped as a lot to find some ways out!

We are now proud to announce that we have launched our application in a stable Beta version. It works for Windows Mobile devices CE,Wm 5&6. Our website is http://www.wi-not.com for anyone that is interested! I would be extremely interested in your feedback! We released it some days ago and things are going pretty well as for now! We have a long way to go, yet there is a lot enthusiasm around and I am ambitious over the outcome!

Once again thank you for your support so far!

Best regards from everybody in Wi-Not!!!

The TV portion didn't seem to work. I got sound, but no picture, and then got the error 'Cannot play the file. The file is either corrupted.....'

And the Star Channel - which country is this from?

     Hi Laura!

Thank you very much for taking some time to test the app!

You mean all the channels did not work or some of them? We have encountered such behavior but only for a tiny portion of the list. Could you send some sample TV channels that were problematic?

Star Channel is a Greek channel !  It usually has box-office movies at night.

Again thank you very much for your time!

I couldn't get a picture from any of the TV channels, but now that I have exited and gone back in, I am now getting pictures. So the TV Channels are not live? For instance BBC World New and the Weather Channel just seem to be continuous loops? The Western Channel seems to be live but there are many pauses for buffering. And now I switch to a different channel, and I get an error again.

     Hi Laura,

some of the channels are live and some have recorded content. However as far as I can tell most of them have a live play. About the disrupts and errors Wi-Not does not make any kind of streaming. We have focused on a quality and dynamic list of channels. Streaming is done through 3rd party, and publicly available streaming sites. Have you checked any of the Radio streams?

    Thanx for the feedback Laura!

Yes - the radio stations play well - it would be great to see more selection - especially something like the World Service from the BBC.

Big Smile That's true! It would be great to have a bigger collection. But lists are dynamically updated so next time maybe your list will be richer!!

How abour flash games? I am wondering if the process of game playing is straightforward.

    Thanx Laura!

Re: We finally launched! Wi-Not Mobile Beta available!

Well maybe I'm not very good at this but...

    I go to Wi-lol

    I type in 'Blackjack"

I get a list of websites...the first is hit or stand...this seems to work fine but the display is so small that it's too difficult to play.

So I try the next one - I get a screen with nine different boxes - I click on one of them, but nothing happens.

I type in 'chess'... I select the first one - this seems to work OK though again the screen is a bit unclear. I can't read anything on right hand column - this is on a TILT.

I had a play with it earlier over WiFi on my HTC Touch Cruise and I thought it was pretty cool on the TV side of things. It didn't seem to like changing channels much and would only last a couple of changes before needing restarting. A few tweaks here and there though and it'll be pretty good I think.

I agree with Laura about the content though. I think this will determine how successful Wi-Not is. It seems a very good client so far though.

well I loaded the cab....and I do not think it likes my Qtek 9000. when I get the log in screen it is very small and only shows in the upper left hand corner. When I try to create an account it will not let me enter my email address....that is as far as I can get.

Your Qtek 9000 it the HTC Universal isn't it? If so it's VGA. I'd guess this app isn't VGA compatible yet. Certainly I've only tried it on a QVGA device. That said, it'll want to be able to handle VGA quite soon as most of the new devices (HTC Diamond, HTC Raphael, ToshG910 etc) are all VGA or better.

Yes that is correct Dave. I figured out that was the problem after playing with it some more. but from what I could see it looked pretty nice. Although I could not get it to run.
