Thanks for all the great info, Chris and Co.! Coincidentally, I just saw this chart on Jason Langridge's site: It lists device management features within Exchange Server 2007, as well as SCMDM and SCCM (System Center Configuration Manager):

 

I've done a little digging and found this doc which highlights in a bit more detail the MDM functionality. The Inline Bootstrapping looks sweet.
