    Fellow Radioshack Employees

Have you been able to get the RadioShack POS software to load on a smart phone so that you can ring customers up or inventory? There is no mobile support nor software through the POS links. If there is anything that your using to be able to we are looking into possibly doing a touchpoint program and using our smart phones to to inventory and other daily tasks.
    Any help would be great!

    Thanks,
    Joey

We've done a deplyoment like this before, unless there is an existing software that you want to run(I may be wrong, I'm not sure what you use exactly) but basically you need to create an application that will integrate with your POS.

If you needed to do inventory and that involved scanning alot of barcodes, I'd look at a ruggedised device, such as the intermec CN3.  (This is also worded to be one of the first ruggedised devices with windows mobile 6.1)

Short of finding/creating an application that integrates with your POS (And very efficiently, as you could wreak havoc if it was the wrong application!) Id look at seeing if there is an web interface for your POS.  E.g.   an internal only website that could search for stock,  then connect your devices in store to wifi, and access the page that way.

Integrating POS and CRM solutions into Windows Mobile is an industry on its own, so I would double check with your software vendor.

It is a specific program that's the only problem. Radioshack's POS software is Proprietary :(

I'd imagine this would be very har dto achieve then.

Unless there is an internal web based interface that you could use, you would really have to talk to the vendor and make a suggestion.

If it was really urgent, you could run the POS on a virtual box and then remote desktop to that virtual box from your device (Assuming it has the client) and you would have a very difficult to use interface for your POS?  Crazy I know,  but without a portable version of the app you will need to look at ways to utilize the POS in its current state from your device.

That is actually what I was thinking about doing. Since I have a pieced together system in the back room that is not being used.
