jkOnTheRun is reporting here that researchers have come up with a foldable screen that is bright, transparent, bendable and flexible, with practically no display size limitations.

I've always said that this was such a limiting factor in portable devices. Trying to use a browser on a small screen, no matter how good a browser, just doesn't do it for me. So I look forward to carrying my portable screen. I might have to still wait a while for a virtual screen though.

 I saw a movie on a similar technology earlier this year, the video demo, which I can't find now, had a guy with a peice of the screen playing a video,  he then rolled it up into a tube and held it in his hand as the video kept playing with no distortions or anything, It was amazing.  Someone had commented on the military application of adaptive camoflage,  being able to have a person covered in a cloth-like screen that could project images from behind them in the environment.  which I thought was really interesting.

The applications for are pretty much limitless.
