IE is part of ROM and therefore is not available as a standalone product.

    Re: Windows Mobile 6.1 Upgrades

So far, I haven't seen any official news about Verizon and WM 6.1 - they weren't mentioned in the 6.1 launch announcement. And as for the Dash, I think it's up to T-Mo to decide which devices to support with an upgrade, and again, I haven't seen any official news about it. Anyone?

The Treo 750 wasn't mentioned either, even tho it was included in the earlier list of devices slated to support Mobile Device Manager. Which is strange, since 6.1 is required for MDM support.

Yeah, I took the news kind of hard: http://www.chrisrue.com/funcave/2008/04/windows-mobile-61-the-hard-way.html

    Re: Windows Mobile 6.1 Upgrades

What about unlocked phones not purchased through mobile operators?  Will the manufactures provide updates?  For example I have an HTC Touch Cruise.

     Thanks.

Normally, it all depends on the branding marks on the device.

If there's an operator brand, then it's up to them to issue the update.

If there's not, then it's up to the OEM.

    Chris,

I've gone nuts with the 6.1 roms. I have an old i-mate pocketpc, a couple of blackjacks, a cingular 8125, and some kjams. what annoyed me was, in the beta of SCMDM, the only devices i had that could connect were the excalibur and the emulator. The other ones didnt seem to work. They work now though :D

Current Device - HTC Touch Pro- Ask me about this device

At this point in time, there are no officially announced 6.1 upgrades or devices other then the ones announced at CTIA (mentioned above).

    Re: Windows Mobile 6.1 Upgrades

David, same deal with me. I have a HTC Hermes (Dopod 838 Pro) running WM6.1 with all the trimmings. This is more annoying as there is a lot of these devices out there, and HTC will never release an update due to 'commercial interests'. To you and me, this means 'we want you to buy a new phone' - but in reality, there is no technical reasoning why WM6.1 couldn't be running across almost all of HTCs product line. HTC will probably pull the same line with WM6.2 as well ;)

    Re: Windows Mobile 6.1 Upgrades

As I know Microsoft will not be offering the upgrade to Windows Mobile 6.1.

You have to contact you local distributer or operator to check if your device is applicable for the upgrade.

Make sure also of the Windows Mobile build you are having already because you will be asked about it. Start---> Settings ----> About

    Regards,

    Khaled
