Re: Windows Live Mesh for Windows Mobiles
After reading this article regarding Microsoft buying MobiComp, who currently offer a service to backup your PIM data, I began thinking about how I currently store mine. I use PPC PIM Backup which runs everyday at midday and saves the data to my strage card. I keep the past five days only, which controls the space used but leaves me enough restore options incase I miss an issue with my PIM data when it first hits. Now, the chances of both my Phone and my Storage Card losing that data is slim, but that chance is there. And there is always the chance of me losing my phone and therefore all data included. I am now going to try and use Live Mesh to store this data. I have changed my backup schedule to store to My Documents on the phone itself and am using ActiveSync to copy My Documents to my PC. I will then look to getting these into a Live Mesh folder so that my data is accessible wherever I am and is backed up no matter which of my devices fails. It has also set me thinking about how else I can sync my data/files with Live Mesh to secure my important work and personal data.

Re: Windows Live Mesh for Windows Mobiles
I check the connect site everyday for mobile support. Cant wait, I've already got live mesh running on several PCs and its invaluable, even just the remote control feature

Re: Windows Live Mesh for Windows Mobiles
Laura Rooke:I wonder if the remote control feature will work from the device?
I do hope so and I've just signed up with LogMeIn I've realised, late in the day, that you can add existing folders from your PC to your Live Mesh list. I have already setup ActiveSync to copy my documents from my mobile to the PC. I have now added that folder to my LiveMesh, so each time I sync with my PC, I am effectively syncing with my LiveMesh. I will replicate this on all of my PCs to increase that syncing functionality. - I have tried to view www.mesh.com on my device and although I can view the page, the scripting seems to be stopping me from connecting onto my Live Desktop and/or my PC. I guess I will have to wait the mobile version of LiveMesh.

Re: Windows Live Mesh for Windows Mobiles
Biomehanika:The mobile version will probably be very similar to the PC version allowing you to assign folders to be synced and a mobile version of the Live Mesh Notifier.
That would be very cool! I hope the Live Mesh Remote Desktop makes it in there too. It seems we already have most of the technology.

Re: Windows Live Mesh for Windows Mobiles
Answer
I have been trialling the mobile web version and I have to say its a really good mobile option, until the WIndows Mobile client arrives. It is a very plain interface giving you exactly what you need. It gives you the two options to delete or download to your device rather than sync. And for those with a hardware keyboard it also includes number press shortcuts. There is a great feature which allows you to add pictures into a automatically created Mobile Pictures folder. N.B. This option is hidden off to the right using Opera 9.5

You'll need to use a password manager to get auto access on a return visit, or you'll need to enter your email Windows Live ID each time.
