Since 6 Month I and thousand other Vista x64 User have the same Problem, the the Device is reconized only one time, it syncs and than never again over USB. Ober bluetooth no problem.

But Google the Problem, under WMDC Vista x64 and "USB Device not installed"

I think this will be a Start for the "Windows Mobile Connection" a real one.

I am using a Vista 64 bit machine and I sync with 5 different devices, so I know that this combo works, but I understand your pain and I have seen this problem many times.

One thing worth trying is to disable your firewalls - all of them - Vista and any 3rd party firewalls, then reinstall WMDC before re-enabling your firewalls.

Have you tried deleting the mobile device  from the wmdc under file and also delete windows pc from the activesync menu ?? and also checking the to see if issue with drivers in the device manager ??

Connect your device and open Device Manager. Click Network Adapters to expand. Right click on your device and select update Driver software.

Would you by chance happen to have installed the 32-bit version of WMDC?  If so, please uninstall it and install the 64-bit version of WMDC from the bottom of the screen on the hyperlink shown below.  It will show a mix of 32bit and 64bit, so just pick your language's 64bit version and I believe you'll be up & working in no time at all:

Welcome Elrendhel - so great to have you post your first post in our new forum. It has been my honor to 'work' alongside you in a number of forums.

I'm not sure whether this is true with the x64 bit version as well but I've seen similar symptoms with the 32bit version where version 6 of the WMDC has issues syncing with some devices (the device that comes to mind is the TyTnII where connectivity seemed to be a major issue).  If you upgrade to v6.1 of the WMDC this was fixed but for some reason it wasn't made available via Windows Update which is just plain annoying.

 Not sure if this it your problem, just something that you may want to double-check

I have found by simply going to

START>SETTINGS>CONNECTIONS>USB TO PC

and making sure that check mark is not present works like a charm -- each and everytime.
