    nowhere for just chat?

I wanted to post a thread asking the Sales reps that are on here a question? couldn't find a natural place for that?

The queston i was going to ask was...

    1) Where did you hear about WMT.com from in the first place?

     &

    2) Why did you decide to become a specialist?

We need a Sales Rep Chat Room don't we?

Yes - and we talked about that today and decided that we need a 'chat zone' and we plan to implement that - Thanks!

    Re: nowhere for just chat?

What about for technical problems. I think that some of the service technicians may find it useful to have the ability to ask some questions as well.  Like on the new windows mobile 6 smartphones that are out.  We haven't gotten a lot of training on them.  Sometimes the customer wants the answer now not later.

    Think this would help?Cool

    Re: nowhere for just chat?

The main reason for these forums is so that you have a place to ask these technical questions. This thread was asking for a place to just chat.

Please ask any questions in the Windows Mobile Section - there are various sub-headings -

    - The Art of Sales and Support

    - Core Software

    - Devices

    - Other Products

    - Microsoft suggestion Box

    Please ask your questions here.

Any thoughts of syncing these forums to news.microsoft.com? I'd love to read these forums via NNTP instead of a web interface ;)

That's a good thought CRC - Bill or Andrea will need to answer this one. It will most probably need to be put on the future enhancement list.

    Re: nowhere for just chat?

I can't say we've given much thought to adapting the site for newsreaders - we'll have to check into it. However, I'm sure you've noticed that we do have most of the site available as RSS. Is this a format that works for people? I've checked out the functionality, and it looks like a fairly fast and clean way to read through posts and link through to threads when you want to respond...

I agree with the initial thought though - you don't always want to be dependent on a full desktop-style browser display to read and respond to posts, especially when mobile. The mobile experience is something we'll definitely continue to work on...

I like the forum but if there was one thing I would like to see is the ability to set it to show me only the new posts since i was here last without having to constantly go back to that link for each one I view. I am sure I am missing information do to time to search for new posts. I do have the ones i am participating in emailed to me so I can follow those.

Yes, maybe we could have the"view posts you have not read" link somewhere that it can be accessed from more places on the site

You should be able to click on the 'Forum' link and then 'Posts you have not read'

Doug, to me it sounds like you want the entire forum to show you only what's new, as opposed to having to visit the "Posts You Have Not Read" page. Did I get that right? If so, then it's something we'll have to add to our "to look into" list.

However, as Laura notes, there is always the "Posts You Have Not Read" page, as well as RSS, which I find to be really quick and easy for staying up to date.

    Thanks for the feedback!

    Re: nowhere for just chat?

I've been using a combination of the RSS and the New posts link.

RSS lets me know when there is a new thread. and If i want to skim through at night and see what new posts have been put up, i check the posts i've not read link. All in all this works great and im happy with this setup!

Yes it would be nice to be able to set in a preferences "show new posts since the last vist" This would enable us to only view the latest posts without seeing all the posts made before it. Right now I am runing desending order and I check all posts since my last visit. This seems to be woking ok.
